Mega-Capacity, Somewhat Portable, Reliable
By Andrew
PROS:
-Largest capacity available (real world usage gives you about 2 full iphone charges & 1-1.5 ipad mini charges)
-Sleek, compact design
-2 USB Ports (one for ipad, one for iphone/android phone)
-Rugged construction
-Company seems to stand behind their product and cares about their customer
-Long stand by time (rated 6 months)
CONS:
-Somewhat heavy
-Only one high-speed charging USB port (not really a con, but annoying if you have 2 ipads)
-2 devices charging simultaneously slows down charging considerably.
I've used a lot of backup batteries for my iphone and ipad mini, this one takes the cake for sure. Especially when compared to the Anker® Astro3E 10000mAh which have similar capacity, but are prone to glitches that will wipe a fully charged battery completely DEAD in seconds. Plus, with the Anker, you are supposed to use their included USB cable (others work, but are more prone to the glitch I just mentioned). This Jackery Battery has no such issue, which is a HUGE plus considering this type of product is completely dependent on reliability and stand-by time.
One of the few truly "set it and forget it" batteries out there, I highly recommend (good price too!!)
Finally, as a side note: Coming from the voice of experience, this type of battery (10400mAh) is great for longer trips or to just keep in your bag, but I've found that getting an additional, smaller battery (preferably one with an integrated cable; one less piece to carry around), is VERY helpful. I can't tell you how many times i've wanted a quick charge but don't have my cable handy, or do have my cable handy but don't want to be tethered to the large battery, OR worse yet my ipad is dead AND my backup battery is dead, A smaller, additional (between 2000-5000 mAh) battery becomes a life saver.

Problem solved
By Bakari Chavanu
I have been looking for a battery charger for iPad and iPhone for several months now, but didn't like the products I found. I read a review of the Jackery Giant, and I was first impressed just by the design of the device. I mainly use the charger in my car, or I stick it in my back pocket when I'm taking lots of photos with my iPhone camera. I also like how you can both charge the battery charger and your mobile device at the same time. While the Giant is a little heavy, that's not a huge problem for me since I don't carry around the charger like I do with my Apple devices. So far I only use the charger about once a week, and the device doesn't seem to lose much charge when not being used. It does take about 10 hours to fully charge Giant, but that means simply charging it overnight, and you're good to go. Most of all, the price for this charger is just right.

It's nice to have power on the go
By Tom Lewis
I have been using a Goal Zero Guide 10 Plus Solar kit to keep our phones charged while traveling for my sons baseball games and family travels. It's a good system, you can charge an iphone 4S with the battery pack or solar panel but it only charges one phone at a time. The battery pack gives you mobility but it only charges one iphone 4S and it’s dead. The solar panel will charge your device but only while you’re out in the sun. After our family trip to Italy I realized we needed something more.
I heard Leo Laporte’s Tech Guy radio show on KFI am 640 in Los Angeles, thru iHeart Radio, talk about the Jackery battery packs with USB ports, that were good and reliable. I found them on Amazon in several different sizes. After Leo’s recommendation and reading the reviews I went with the Jackery Giant because of the two USB charging ports, battery capacity and the number of devices my family has.
The ordering was painless and the delivery was quick. There is not much to it, just the battery pack and a USB cable for charging the unit with USB’s on both ends. You will need a wall wart to plug into an electrical outlet (find one that charges at 2.1 amps for the fastest charge). The wall wart seems like such a no brainer, I don’t know why they don’t include it. On a side note, after hearing Leo Laporte talk about electrical outlets with USB charging ports built into them I bought one from Home Depot that has two USB charging outlets with a smart chip. I installed it in the kitchen where we charge most of our stuff, it works great and very convenient.
I charged the unit and then charged my iphone. I was so disappointed when the charger died after one phone charge. I didn’t have time to get the unit replaced before we were to leave for the next baseball tournament so I plugged the unit in again and let it charge up one more time. I was very relieved to charge two iphone 4S at the same time from 20% to 100% and than an ipad from 35% to 100%. The unit has never had that problem again.
We used our iphone maps to get around to all the different baseball games in Atlanta Georgia and it really drains your phone battery quick. The Jackery gave us freedom the from a wall or car outlet to enjoy the games and keep everyone at home up to date on the games progress. We loaned the Jackery to one of the team moms who’s phone went dead.
In the Atlanta airport there were people everywhere plugged into any outlet they could find to charge their phones. My son and I charged our phones in our pockets in the airport and my wife charged her phone on the plane with the Jackery.
The Jackery kept all our equipment charged without any problems and with extra juice to spare. My kids are still using it around the house when their batteries low and their moving from room to room.
The unit is big, it’s about as long, a little wider and three times as thick as a iphone but it’s not bad. I put a large rubber band around it to keep it, my phone and cable together
