5Helped us through Hurricane Sandy
By Dana Krall
I purchased the Anker Astro2 charger in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy. I knew we would likely be without power for 1-2 weeks, and needed to have a backup charger for my cell phone and iPad. After an initial charge of about 6 hours, the Anker was able to charge my iPhone 5 and my iPad simultaneously. It gave them both a full charge and had one "battery indicator light" left afterwards. I was able to get about a half charge of my iPhone after that. After fully charging the Anker a second time, I have found that it will give my iPhone 5 almost three full charges. This item was an invaluable purchase for us. We were without power and land-line telephone service for 8 days and would have been lost without it. I hope that it continues to work as well as it has so far.

3Serviceable, but could be improved
By T. Brophy
I received this charger about a week ago and have been using it heavily since, on only two recharges, so I'm pleased with the capacity. The size is also nice as it fits comfortably in a pocket.

There are three things about this charger that make me wish I'd investigated longer before purchasing:

1. The instructions say that the recharger should be disconnected when the LED panel indicates it has been fully recharged. I'm really surprised to find a device that's about back-up power, but that can't be left plugged in. Given that the last time I recharged it, I plugged it in first thing on arriving at work, and by 5:00pm it was still recharging, on the last of four indicators, it's really inconvenient to have to monitor the charging progress.

2. Power indicators are not accurate. I've run this down twice, and both times it showed 3/4 charge for 3-4 hours, then finally down to 1/2 charge...which lasted about 30 minutes before it was completely drained. I've never seen it at 1/4 charged because it seems to go from 1/2 straight to 0.

3. The built-in flashlight. I understand that they've made improvements so that it's harder for the flashlight to activate unintentionally, but I've still pulled this device out of my pocket and found that the flashlight was on. (The fix is to make you hold the power button down for a few seconds before the light will come on. I don't like that you then have to hold the button a few more seconds to turn it off.) I personally don't see the need for a flashlight on a recharging device. If my phone is recharged, I can use it as a flashlight.

I plan to keep using the Anker, but I'm continuing my search for a replacement.

5GREAT!!!!
By Igor
I just bought the Samsung Galaxy Nexus from verizon and its 4g is amazing. I'm so addicted to the 4g I can't stop using it, however this comes at a huge battery price. While I could get an extended battery and MAYBE get 3 extra hours out of it than my current battery, the weight of the phone will go up and I will still have to carry around extra batteries when the one in the phone dies. With excessive use a battery will only last 4 hours, extended maybe 5-6? During the day I would need at least 1 maybe 2 extra batteries in my wallet.... Seems excessive indeed. Then come home and charge all the batteries again? Painful! When I saw these awesome, compact little chargers I HAD to give them a shot. Recharges 4-6 phones??? HELL YEAH!!! That means I can have the capacity of at least 4 batteries on me at any time. I can charge 2 phones at once If I really needed to (for example the gf's phone or a friends almost dead phone). Anyways all in all pretty useful little device. Costs less than what 2 extra batteries would run me right now and works great... what more can I say... for a price to function ration this little battery charger can't be beat. It fits in the palm of my hand, looks sexy and sleek, and has a tiny led flashlight built in. It's slightly heavy and I wouldn't recommend carrying it in your pocket all day long, unless you have the space.... I don't. I toss it in the car and use it when I need it. Charges my phone to full in a little under 2 hours. Not bad, my car charger is hella slow so this is def another +.
