solid, well-made

I have the iPhone 5 in the big heavy rubberized case. Earlier, I had purchased a cheaper docking station. It could not handle the heavier rubber case. This unit is light years better than that cheap unit. My phone case is no problem at all, and this unit is very heavy, and it doesn't slide around on my desk . And, since the iPhone leans against the curled back rest, there is no lateral strain on the Lightning connector. This is a solidly made unit.

Wobbly connector, incompatible with new cases

I was unable to enjoy this product for two reasons:
1) The connector appears to be purposefully "loose" so that the phone/tablet can lean back. I find this makes it really difficult to quickly dock. And since you're wobbling your connection port every time you dock, I'm concerned about the risk of loosening the soldering points internally.
2) As others have noted, this design of the dock is incompatible with any cases that aren't completely open at the base. Look carefully at the product photo. You'll notice that the lightning connector is mounted to a white plastic piece the shape+size of the legacy 30-pin plug. If you use a case, you will need an opening at the bottom around the lightning port that it as wide as a 30-pin plug. Otherwise, you will not be able to use this doc without modifying your case or taking it off before docking. This is a shame.

Heavy duty!

Heavy duty Quality Product. Works Fantastic. I have a huge case on my iphone 5 and it fits perfect! Highly reccomend it.
